Centre for Collective Development is committed towards its mission “Annadata Sukhi Bhava”

We work with the small and marginal farmers of India to help them build sustainable livelihood. We help them establish member-owned, member-managed and member-controlled cooperatives which unlocks countless opportunities for the small and marginal farmers across the country.

The small and marginal farmers make up most of the 60% of rural households that are dependent on agriculture as the principal means of their livelihood.

Even though the Indian agriculture has undergone rapid transformation in the past two decades, the small and marginal farmers are still stuck in a time warp.

The small farmers have a very low average annual household income of INR 20,000 making them debt ridden with a debt ratio as high as 250%.

These farmers also face challenges like weak monsoon, nonseasonal rains, droughts, crop failure due to other climatic reasons followed by lack of access to market

We at CCD, have built a model that is designed to remove these systemic inefficiencies to build a cooperative led ecosystem that transforms the livelihood of the small and marginal farmers irrespective of the crop they grow and the region they belong to.

We are currently working with 43710 farmers of 122 villages spread across 5 states. We have helped these farmers build a total of 542 farmers cooperatives and which in turn has helped them in:

  • Cutting down the cost
  • Improving yields
  • Receiving Fair value for the crops
  • Better control over market fluctuations
  • Getting rid of middlemen
  • Providing seamless access to the market
